2026 Rajasthan Day

The state of Rajasthan was formed on the 30th of March, 1949. This day has been celebrated as the Rajasthan Day or the Foundation Day of Rajasthan. This year marks the 77th anniversary of this state’s formation!  

The state of Rajasthan has a very rich history. Before India became independent in 1947, this region was known as Rajputana. It is the largest state of India. 

The name of this state means “Land of the Kings”. It reflects the fact that it was ruled by many kings before the independence of India. Jaipur was the largest city of this state; So, it was named the capital of this state. 

Rajasthan is a very important part of India due to its rich culture and heritage. It is called the ‘‘Desert State of India’. With its long stretches of golden sand, it is truly a marvellous region of India! This day is therefore celebrated with great joy, as it marks when India gained its largest state.
